Who We Work With

We work with high school students who want to strengthen their skills, keep up with coursework, or prepare for major exams. We support a wide range of learners — from students who need extra reinforcement to high-achieving students looking to level up and excel.

Why Families Choose Weissman Tutors

As a current AP high school teacher with more than four years of professional tutoring experience, I understand what actually leads to success in the classroom — not just memorization, but real comprehension and skill development.

  • Sessions align with real classroom expectations and curriculum
  • Strategies that build confidence and independence
  • Insight into what teachers and exam graders look for
  • Classroom expertise with one-on-one personalization

Credentials & Experience

  • Degree in Advanced Accounting from Queens College
  • Current AP teacher at Yeshiva Darchei Torah (AP U.S. History)
  • 4+ years of professional one-on-one tutoring
  • Regents, AP, and honors-level coursework support
  • Fingerprint-cleared and background-checked through school employment
  • Track record of improvement (e.g., Algebra I: 62 → 88 in one semester)

Teaching Philosophy

I believe students learn best when instruction is calm, structured, and personalized to the way they think. My sessions focus on clarity and strategy, not just memorizing steps. I teach students the “why” behind problems so they can apply skills independently in class and on exams.

  • Real AP classroom experience and grading insight
  • Skill-building that creates independence, not dependency
  • Each session ends with a clear, actionable takeaway
  • Strategies: modeling, retrieval, guided practice, checklists

Started at 62 and lacked confidence. We focused on fundamentals and test strategies. By semester’s end, he earned an 88 on the final and participates confidently in class.

Student B — 11th Grade (APUSH)

Struggled with LEQs/DBQs. We built argument structure and evidence integration. She moved from low 3s to high 4s and earned a 5 on the AP Exam.

Student C — 10th Grade (Chemistry)

Issues applying formulas and units. After 8 weeks of targeted practice, she improved from failing quizzes to 90%+ on the midterm.
